We live in a time of extraordinary opportunities and bewildering challenges. How do we meet both the Rose and the Thorn of our daily experiences with wisdom and equanimity? Each of us must find our own way.

This year's Living Sufism program will offer a series of experiential encounters illuminating five gateways of Sufi practices. Our aim is to deepen our abilities to engage with whatever shows up in our everyday lives more creatively and harmoniously. This is what is meant by living Sufism.

This marks a new approach to our programming. Unlike previous offerings, the Zoom sessions will be almost entirely experiential. Instructional content will be delivered through a monthly mailing of videos, text and exercises as required preparation for each interactive session.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU REGISTER

The Rose and the Thorn emphasizes experience. Rather than just learning about the Sufi gateways of aliveness we will experience these through interactivity, exercises and chilla. This means that our process will differ significantly from previous Living Sufism programs. Please consider whether you are OK with these changes before registering.

The Sunday sessions will consist primarily of activities such as breakout groups, Sufi practices, role playing, imaginative games and spiritual exercises. Please be sure that you are willing to participate in these before you register.

Attendance at the Sunday sessions will require that you read and engage with the “teachings” packet provided at the beginning of each month. These materials will provide the basic information and context necessary to participate meaningfully in the activities during the Sunday sessions.

To protect individual privacy, the Sunday session will NOT be recorded. Please be sure that you can attend all or at least most of the sessions before you register.

If you have any questions about this please address them to Angelika: [email protected].
